Our program combines meaningful volunteer work with authentic cultural exploration, taking you through some of Nepal’s most remarkable destinations. Your journey begins in Kathmandu, where you will discover ancient temples, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and the city’s rich cultural heritage. You will then travel to the picturesque village of Khudi, where you will live alongside local communities, participate in volunteer activities, and experience traditional rural life. The program continues to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara, known for its spectacular mountain views and relaxed atmosphere, before concluding in Chitwan, home to Nepal’s famous national park and diverse wildlife.

Throughout the program, you will contribute to community-focused projects while learning about Nepal’s unique customs, traditions, and everyday life. Whether you are assisting in education, community development, or other local initiatives, your efforts will create a positive impact while giving you valuable international experience. Along the way, you will enjoy authentic Nepalese cuisine, interact with people from different ethnic communities, and gain insights that cannot be experienced through ordinary travel.

This program is ideal for those seeking a meaningful adventure that combines volunteering, cultural immersion, and travel. By the end of the four weeks, you will have explored the cultural heart of Kathmandu, experienced the warmth of village life in Khudi, admired the natural beauty of Pokhara, and encountered the incredible wildlife of Chitwan-all while making a lasting difference in the communities you visit.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Welcome to Nepal! On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll receive a warm welcome and then will be transferred from there to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. While on the way to the hotel, you’ll be able to see some of the most famous places in Kathmandu like Pashupatinath Temple, Narayanhiti Palace Museum, and Garden of Dreams.

The hotel is based in the lively Thamel area of Kathmandu, the most popular tourist destination in Kathmandu known for its lively markets full of cafes, restaurants, craft shops, trekking stores, etc. You can spend time in the busy markets of Thamel after getting checked into the hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Explore the cultural and historical heritage of Kathmandu during a sightseeing tour in a private car. Your trip starts from Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for the age-old palaces, carved temples, and spectacular Newari architecture of Nepal’s royal past.

Proceed to visit the famous Monkey Temple of Swayambhunath, one of Nepal’s oldest religious sites and a symbol of coexistence of Buddhism and Hinduism. From this elevated site, get views of the Kathmandu Valley and explore the ancient stupas, shrines, and prayer wheels here.

Further, the tour will take you to visit the holy Pashupatinath Temple, the holiest Hindu temple of Nepal. Watch the traditional rites of cremation that take place along the banks of the Bagmati River. Visit the adjoining Guhyeshwari Temple as well.

Complete your cultural journey with a visit to the stunning Boudhanath Stupa, which is not only one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world but also a World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO. The stupa is encircled by monasteries, prayer flags, and colorful local cafes, and it provides an ideal setting for walking and observing the surroundings.

Day 3: Shivapuri National Park Hike and Nunnery visit

Start your day with a journey into the heart of nature as you drive to Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park and undertake an adventurous walk amidst the pine, oak, and rhododendron forests in the area. This relaxing walk will take you to the Buddhist nunnery at Nagi Gompa where you will learn about the nuns and their way of life through a tour of the monastery. You can also experience a humble lunch hosted by the nuns here. The area is a paradise for bird lovers.

Once you are done with your lunch, you will begin your walk to the Shivapuri Peak (2,732 m), which is the highest peak within the national park. Once you reach the top of the peak, you will get to appreciate the spectacular view of the Kathmandu Valley, including the snowy Himalayan ranges such as Langtang and Ganesh Himal. After enjoying the amazing scenery, you will walk down the same route to your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 4: Authentic Nepali Cooking & Market Tour

Start your culinary experience with a guided visit to a bustling local market, where you will explore fresh vegetables, aromatic herbs, and traditional Nepali spices while learning about the ingredients that form the foundation of Nepali cuisine. Interact with local vendors and gain insight into the country’s food culture and daily shopping traditions.

Following the market tour, take part in a hands-on Nepali cooking class led by an experienced local chef. Learn to prepare iconic dishes such as Momo (Nepali dumplings) and Dal Bhat, the nation’s staple meal, using authentic cooking techniques and fresh local ingredients. After the session, enjoy the delicious meal you have prepared while discovering the cultural significance of these traditional dishes.

Day 5: Sightseeing in Patan & Bhaktapur

Following your breakfast, your guide will join you at the hotel and take you to a full day tour covering Patan and Bhaktapur, two historic royal cities of the Kathmandu Valley. During this day tour, first, you will be visiting the Patan Durbar Square with its palace, intricately designed temples and Newari architecture which dates back several centuries ago. You will be able to visit the famous Patan Museum, Krishna Temple, Golden Temple, and Banglamukhi Temple. All of these places bear the culture and heritage of the Kathmandu valley.

Next, in the afternoon, you will be visiting Bhaktapur, another UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its monuments, brick streets and its beautiful wood carvings. There you can visit the majestic Nyatapola Temple, considered to be the tallest pagoda style temple of Nepal. Apart from that, there is pottery making in Pottery Square in which you will be given an opportunity to make your own piece of pottery. Afterwards, you will be returning to your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 6: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar and then to Khudi

Leave Kathmandu early in the morning and drive through the beautiful route to Besisahar via beautiful hills, cultivated terrains, meandering rivers, and rustic villages. From Besisahar, proceed with a brief drive to the tranquil mountain village of Khudi situated amidst the foothills of the Annapurna Range.

On arrival, be welcomed by your host family with a typical Nepali reception before settling in your homestay for the duration of your stay. You will spend the remainder of the day getting to know the village and the people there.

Day 7-12: Volunteer activities in Khudi

Experience the week in the picturesque mountain village of Khudi, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of nature, while making contributions to the local community through volunteering. Depending on the time of year, help local farmers with their day-to-day farming activities, including planting, harvesting, animal rearing, and land upkeep. In addition, take part in supporting the local community school by assisting with teaching English classes, engaging the kids in educational and fun games, creative work, and sports activities.

In addition to volunteer work, join community-driven projects involving environmental protection, village development, or women empowerment depending on the needs of the village. Your leisure time could be spent discovering the surrounding areas and going on hikes up to the local viewpoints, visiting nearby villages, having a swim in the local rivers, fishing, and more. During your stay, get a real sense of cultural exchange through living with the local host family, participating in their daily customs and eating home-cooked traditional food with local products.

Day 13: Drive from Khudi to Pokhara

Bid farewell to your host family and depart Khudi for a scenic drive to Pokhara, passing through picturesque hills, terraced farmlands, rivers, and charming rural settlements. Upon arrival in Nepal’s beautiful lakeside city, check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the vibrant Lakeside area, relaxing by Phewa Lake, or taking in the stunning views of the Annapurna mountain range.

Day 14-19: Adventure & Children's Home Support

Enjoy a week of volunteering in Pokhara while also exploring one of Nepal’s most picturesque places. In the morning and evening sessions, volunteer at a children’s home by helping to cook meals for the children, assisting them with their homework, organizing educational and fun activities for them, and spending quality time with the residents.

During the days off from volunteering, you can take leisure to explore Pokhara at your own pace. Go trekking to Sarangkot to view the sunrise in the Himalayas or check out the World Peace Pagoda near Phewa Lake. You can also try some boating or kayaking on the lake, explore the lively Lakeside area and its markets, or even try some adventurous activities like paragliding, zip-lining, or white-water rafting (on your own expenses).

Day 20: Drive From Pokhara to Chitwan

Move away from the hills as you make your way south to the tranquil village of Sauraha, the entry point to Chitwan National Park. The pleasant journey brings you from the mid-hills of Nepal down to the Terai region, where there will be a clear contrast between the scenery, climate, and culture.

Once you have arrived at Sauraha, check into your hotel and relax in this riverfront village. You can use the rest of the day for some exploration around the village or just relax and prepare yourself for the adventure in Chitwan National Park ahead.

Day 21-25: Wildlife & Tharu Community Engagement

Experience a fulfilling four days in Sauraha that will be full of wildlife activities along with community engagement experiences. Discover the rich flora and fauna of the Chitwan National Park during your guided jeeps safaris, canoe safaris and nature walks where you can encounter rhinoceroses, deers, crocodiles and different types of birds in their natural habitat. Get an understanding of the conservation efforts of the national park for the protection of the unique wildlife of Nepal.

Apart from your wildlife encounters, learn more about the culture of the local people. Visit their villages, meet their families and understand their culture, their agriculture and their lifestyle. In addition, you will also get the opportunity to engage with them in some community based activities, which could include working on their local farms, doing some environmental education and helping women empowerment projects.

Day 26: Drive From Chitwan to Kathmandu

Following the breakfast, leave Sauraha for an enjoyable drive back to Kathmandu, experiencing scenic drives through rural areas with rivers and hillsides. Once you reach there, check in at the hotel and relax for some time after the long journey.

Later in the afternoon, visit the bustling area of Thamel in Kathmandu, which is one of the most popular areas for tourists, where you will find many shops selling various handicrafts, pashminas, paintings, and many other unique souvenirs. Spend the rest of your evening reminiscing about the incredible journey that you have just experienced in Nepal.

Day 27: Departure

Your unforgettable journey in Nepal comes to an end today. After breakfast, you will be transferred by private vehicle to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, arriving approximately three hours before your scheduled departure. This allows ample time to complete check-in and other airport formalities before your flight.

As you depart, take with you the incredible memories of the Himalayas, the warmth of the Sherpa communities, and the achievement of reaching Everest Base Camp. We wish you a safe and pleasant journey home and hope to welcome you back to Nepal for another adventure in the future.

  • Assistant Guide: An additional assistant guide will accompany the group if there are more than seven participants.

Price Excludes

Nepal Visa

Visa fees are not included. You can easily obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Current fees are USD 30 for a 15-day visa, USD 50 for a 30-day visa, and USD 125 for a 90-day visa.

Food and Beverages

All drinks, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate) and cold drinks, are not included throughout the trip.

Travel Insurance and evacuation
Travel insurance has to cover emergency rescue evacuation from high-altitude up to 6000 meters.

Donation and Additional cost

Hotel upgrades, donations at temples, schools, monasteries, and other sites, personal hiking gear and equipment, and any additional costs arising from illness, injury, emergency evacuation or rescue, natural disasters, flight delays or cancellations, itinerary changes, or other unforeseen circumstances are not included.
